The Fire HD Kids Edition starts in Amazon FreeTime, which is built from the ground up just for kids. Amazon FreeTime allows you to choose content you’ve purchased to create a personalized experience for each of your children, giving you control over what content each child can access. Kids can seamlessly switch between books, videos, and apps in a simple, fun, and safe environment designed specifically for them. Amazon FreeTime also lets you set daily time limits and educational goals for your child.

Amazon FreeTime:

 

• - Blocks access to the built-in web browser

• - Blocks access to browsing and purchasing Amazon content

• - Blocks in-app purchases

• - Disables location-based services

• - Disables social sharing (Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads)

• - Requires entry of a password to turn Wi-Fi connectivity on or off

 

You can choose specific books, videos, and apps for your child to see in Amazon FreeTime from your library or when you purchase new content from Amazon. Prime Instant Video and video rentals cannot be added to your child’s library in Amazon FreeTime. You can select whatever content you feel appropriate, and change your selections at any time. Content that you share in FreeTime will function just like it would normally on your Fire tablet, except that the protections listed above will limit functionality for some apps. Ads are not blocked in ad-supported apps that you share in FreeTime, but children cannot open them.
