The Marin County courthouse incident was an event which occurred on August 7, 1970, when 17-year-old Jonathan Jackson attempted to negotiate the freedom of the Soledad Brothers (which included his older brother George) by kidnapping Superior Court judge Harold Haley from the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael, California. The resulting shootout left four men dead, including both Jackson and Judge Haley. Two others were wounded.

The event received intense media coverage, as did the subsequent manhunt and trial of Angela Davis, an ousted assistant professor from UCLA who was involved with George Jackson, Jonathan Jackson, and the Black Panthers. Davis owned the weapons used in the kidnapping and murder.

BEYONCE - Pre Order for 1/2015

There’s no doubt about it, today’s students listen to an average of 2.5 hours of music every day. Guess what they are listening to? Hip-hop is mainstream, continually topping Billboard’s Hot 100 charts. These hi-lo biographies engage striving readers from the very beginning with blinged-out covers, stunning four-color photographs, modern and graphic page design, and high-interest informational text.

Biographies highlight the unique characteristics of each mega-rapper, including childhood struggles, personal style, rivalries, giving back, and more. Each 48-page paperback book includes a timeline and glossary, with vocabulary words highlighted throughout.

Taylor Swift

If you liked songs like “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” from “Red” and “Better Than Revenge” from “Speak Now” you are absolutely going to love pretty much everything on “1989.” The 13 songs on the album are all strong tracks that stand on their own and I can’t think of any I’d skip after repeat listens.

The overall sound of the album is a mixture of styles and sounds where the 1980’s pop meets a bit or Lorde, Lana Del Rey or even the Killers. As always it is Taylor’s lyrics and melody that shine through as she wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks on the album.

I would highly recommend getting the Deluxe version of the cd that contains 3 full bonus tracks and 3 “voice memo” tracks. The full tracks, “Wonderland,” “You R In Love” and “New Romantics” are as strong as any of the 13 main album tracks and the “voice memo” tracks are interesting to those who want to know just how a song gets put together from start to finish but they’re not tracks I can see listening to over and over again. (Not sure if this item is actually for the Japanese edition, if so it also includes a DVD of the "Shake It Off" Video and a making of special on the video.)
